The Changing of the Guard (album). The Changing of the Guard is the twelfth album by indie rock band Starflyer 59. It was released on 10 August 2010. The album was produced by Jason Martin and mixed by JR McNeely. Test vinyl pressings of the album, limited to twenty-five copies, went on sale on 16 June and were mailed on 17 July 2010 in white vinyl. All pressings of the album came in a deluxe gatefold LP format, accompanied by a 7-inch record with two bonus tracks
The Charm is an album by drummer T. Monk which was recorded in 1995 and released on the Blue Note label. Monk, by successfully keeping his sextet together as a regularly working outfit for several years, has been able to form a recognizable group sound in the hard bop tradition. Monk - drummer, bandleader, composer, and vocalist was drawn to the drums before the age of ten. His destiny was sealed when Max Roach, with whom he studied, gave him his first drum set. After earning a reputation in school as a rabble-rouser (and graduating), the young Monk joined his father's trio and toured with his dad until the elder Monk's retirment in 1975.
Monk received the New York Jazz Awards First Annual "Recording of the Year" award and Downbeats' 63rd annual Album of the Year Reader's Choice Award for Monk on Monk. This is the "80th Anniversary Birthday Tribute to Thelonious Sphere Monk" featuring 20 guest artists including Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Arturo Sandoval, Dianne Reeves, Nnenna Freelon, and Howard Johnson.
