The Sea and Cake is an American indie rock band with a jazz influence, based in Chicago, Illinois, United States

Any Day captures The Sea And Cakes distinctive aural alchemy, melding longing melancholy with hopeful excitement. In other hands the combination seems impossible, but for The Sea And Cake, its effortless. The Sea and Cake are simply too talented to ever release poor material, and I can see this album growing on me like a weed. The songs are all great, and it's the overall ambience that makes this new effort as enjoyable as all their previous albums. You like Steely Dan, but would like to hear that jazz influence in a more spacious setting, you cannot afford to miss this outstanding band.

Just got my copy on White vinyl and listened to it over the weekend. Both sides are covered with surface noise, start to finish. Anyone else have this issue? Trying to figure out if I just got a bad copy or if the whole press was bad.
Thanks. Amoeba ended up allowing me to return the 2nd defective copy of the white too and replaced it with a copy of the black vinyl, which sounds good.
I found an email via their website. I believe it was orders at thrilljockey dot com. Hope they'll help you out.
Just got a replacement copy and same problem. The whole press must be bad, can't believe this wasn't caught in QC. How did you contact Thrill Jockey? I can't find an email address. So I tried through Twitter.
Gah! Thanks for replying. I had contacted the place I bought it from and they're sending me a replacement on white. So I guess I'll see if that one is bum too. If so, I'll contact Thrill Jockey. I would pay shipping to get a better sounding copy personally. I've heard from some other people who had other colored copies (e.g. Pink) and indicated it sounded fine. So possibly just an issue with the the white pressing , which is a bummer.
My copy on white vinyl had the same issue. I actually wrote Thrill Jockey about it, and asked if an exchange was possible. I was asked for video evidence of the noise, after which I was told they'd send me a copy on black vinyl if I'd return the white copy. That's all fair, I suppose, but at this point I don't know if it's worth it to me to re-package the record, pay for shipping, and wait an unknown amount of days for a new standard issue copy to be sent.
