Ian Campbell Thomas (born 23 July 1950) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, actor and author. He is the younger brother of comedian and actor Dave Thomas. He was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Thomas is a successful rock and roll musician in Canada, at the height of his solo career during the 1970s, with his most memorable hit being 1973's "Painted Ladies".

Ian Thomas is well-known to Canadian pop and rock fans and has had a long career there putting out thirteen albums along the way. It seemed for a brief moment in late 1973 and early 1974 that he would break out in the . with his single, Painted Ladies. That song was a number 4 hit in Canada and made it to number 34 on Billboard, charting for fourteen weeks, which mean sit was big in some markets. It was played pretty much on the radio and I bought his first two albums, following him only intermittently after that as he was pretty much ignored in the . Ian Thomas was a committed artist with something to say in each song. Though the booklet gives scant information about him, all the song lyrics are printed and Ian wrote a vignette about each one. His sound became more interesting as it developed over time and became a really great 80's sound less dependent on the country-rock of the 70's.
