He received Academy Awards nominations for writing the music for Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator (1940) and William Wyler's The Little Foxes (1941). Many of his songs have become standards, including Till There Was You a hit for the Beatles in 1963.
The CD concludes with a rare 1962 promotional interview with Shirley Jones, co-star of the film version of 'The Music Man', followed by Jones' interpretation of 'Being In Love', the song Willson wrote especially for the film to replace 'My White Knight'. A nice alternate view of the music from The Music Man for theatre die hard fans. Don't get in place of a true cast album or movie soundtrack but a nice addition to a musical theatre nerd's collection. 3 people found this helpful.
