Alice's Restaurant", also known as the "Alice's Restaurant Massacree", is a satirical talking blues song by singer-songwriter Arlo Guthrie, released as the title track to his 1967 debut album Alice's Restaurant.

Guthrie first played Alice’s Restaurant Massacree – the unique spelling of massacre having been borrowed from the Ozarks – on the WBAI radio show Radio Unnameable, and it was so popular that he ended up appearing on the show several additional times to play it, which led to the station playing a live version of the song. Its popularity increased to the point where, when he played the Newport Folk Festival in July 1967, he was asked to play it live.

Son of Woody Guthrie. Best known for his hit Alice's Restaurant Masacree. The album Alice's Restaurant went platinum. His best of went gold. He also had a hit with City of New Orleans, about a train on the Illinois Central Railroad. Alice's Restaurant is a parody of the Vietnam War draft. The song was adapted into a film which starred Arlo. Performed with Pete Seeger, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Judy Collins, and others. Appeared on The Muppet Show. Also performed with Bonnie Raitt

On Thanksgiving Day 1965, while in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, during a break from his brief stint in college, 18-year-old Arlo Guthrie was arrested for illegally dumping on private property what he described as "a half-ton of garbage" from the home of his friends, teachers Ray and Alice Brock, after he discovered the local landfill was closed for the holiday

See that man sitting Down under the seat Walk up and tell him You want something to eat Because you can eat Anyone that you want at Alice's Restaurant I said You can get anything That you want at Alice's Restaurant You can get anything That you want just As long as it's up front. Come on, baby Know you could Go ask your mama If you should Because you can get Anything that you want at Alice's Restaurant. You can get anything That you want at Alice's Rock and Roll Restaurant You can get anything That you want at Alice's Restaurant.

In terms of artistic merit, the studio side is an equally endowed effort containing six decidedly more traditional folk-rock compositions. Among the standouts are the haunting "Chilling of the Evening," which is given an arrangement perhaps more aptly suited to a Jimmy Webb/Glen Campbell collaboration.
