Nevermind finds Nirvana at the crossroads - scrappy garageland warriors setting their sights on a land of giants. In This Article: Kurt Cobain, nirvana. Want more Rolling Stone?

Nevermind is the echo that drags itself across the generations that knew it best. I am 25 years older, and I am waiting for a rock album like Nevermind to come along again to kick in a door and tear a room apart. To take a blueprint and draw all over it, alienating some, yes, but making everyone else follow. When it comes along this time - because I’m optimistic that it will - I’ll be sure to play it for someone young and eager.

Though Nevermind would end up being a classic album, the band actually spent minimal time in the studio. The band would take two or three tries at the instrumentals of each track and if they weren't up to snuff, they'd move on to another song. As for the lyrical content, some of it came together at the last minute. As stated, Nevermind arrived on Sept. 24, 1991, preceded a few weeks by the single "Smells Like Teen Spirit.
