These foolish things remind me of you. Gardenia perfume ling’ring on a pillow Wild strawb’ries only seven francs a kilo And still my heart has wings These foolish things remind me of you The smile of Garbo and the scent of roses The waiters whistling as the last bar closes The song that Crosby sings These foolish things remind me of you How strange how sweet to find
The alto saxophone, also referred to as the alto sax, is a member of the saxophone family of woodwind instruments invented by Belgian instrument designer Adolphe Sax in the 1840s, and patented in 1846. It is pitched in E♭, and is smaller than the tenor, but larger than the soprano. The alto sax is the most common saxophone and is commonly used in concert bands, chamber music, solo repertoire, military bands, marching bands, and jazz (such as big bands, jazz combos, swing music)
The first, billed as Tab Smith His Fabulous Alto And Orchestra, was an instrumental cover of the concurrent hit by Tony Bennett, Because Of You (first a hit in 1941 by the Larry Clinton orchestra) which, for Tab, finished at 1 R&B/ 20 Pop in Nov-Dec 1951 b/w Dee Jay Special as United 104. This first of the four Delmark volumes titled Jump Time contains both sides and amply demonstrates Tab's easy transition from soft ballads to jump tunes, although he will never be identified among the sax "honkers" of the era. Also included - with one notable exception - are these subseq.
