The Stompers were one of the lucky bands, since Boardwalk's parent company, Polygram, decided that there was still life in the band and decided to release a new album. Well, kind of new, actually. One Heart for Sale, the Stompers' sophomore release, is actually the band's debut album in new clothes. Gone are "Your Sweet Love" and "I Can't Sleep at Night" (and the unlisted reprise of "Coast to Coast"), replaced by "One Heart for Sale" (a fantastic pop song) and "Who Knows How to Make Love Stay

The Stompers played in Boston-area bars such as The Rathskeller and Jonathan Swift's. After toiling in a sweaty apartment, the group released its first vinyl single in 1978,Coast to Coast/I'm in Trouble on Double Eagle Records, owned by their manager, Peter Lembo. The song was later used in the John Sayles movie Return of the Secaucus 7. On January 3, 1979, the band became one of the first unsigned acts to perform at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston. Polygram Records later acquired The Stompers through bankruptcy court and re-released the album under the title One Heart for Sale, including a single by the same title. Despite issues with Polygram, the Stompers released the single East Side Girl in 1985 without major label promotion. The song's video was in heavy rotation for two months.

The Stompers story begins in the fall of 1977 when friends Sal Baglio and Mark Cuccinello decided to start a band. Stephen Gilligan and Dave Friedman, the only people to respond to an index card posted on a music store bulletin board seeking musicians, arrived a short time later. On November 7, 1977, the musical neophytes played their first gig in Beverly, Mass. EARLY GIGS The act started out in area hang-outs like Cantone's, Inn Square Men's Bar (ladies invited), Jonathan Swift's and The Rathskeller, where each gig was a rock and roll slugfest. Polygram Records "bought" The Stompers deal from Boardwalk in bankruptcy court. The label had big plans for the album, which was re-titled "One Heart For Sale," and included a single by the same name. Again, the release kicked-out white hot with great potential. The new/old album was "bubbling under" at followed by the single "One Heart For Sale.
