Keepers at Woburn Safari Park, Buckinghamshire, regularly apply sun cream. Albino animals have a reduced amount of melanin so they burn easily in the sun. By Isabella Nikolic For Mailonline. As temperatures top 77F (25C) in the UK, keepers at Woburn Safari Park, Buckinghamshire, are regularly applying sun cream to protect him from the sun’s rays. A rare albino wallaby born during the recent heatwave has to have regular massages with sun cream to stop his delicate skin from burning. Animals with albinism have a reduced amount of melanin, or no melanin at all, causing them to have white or very light blonde hair, which means they burn easily in the sun.

In Maine we spent most of our time in Portland and Newport. We were lucky to catch Portland’s fireworks display on the 4th. It was easily the best I’ve ever seen. In Newport, Maine, we loved checking out the Ocean View area and the sea walk trail. Fort Adams was also really cool. And again, the seafood was incredible. It was a great trip and we had a fantastic time.

THREE lighthouse keepers who mysteriously disappeared from a remote Scottish island 100 years ago were commemorated at the weekend. Donal Macarthur, James Ducat and Thomas Marshall vanished from the lighthouse on Flannan Isle, one of seven small islands near Lewis, in December 1900. Their disappearance was reported by a passing ship when the lighthouse, which was normally visible for 24 miles in all weather, was unlit. The only clues were an up-turned chair, unmade beds and a meal of cold meat and boiled potatoes which lay untouched on the table.
