Alisha's Attic – Alishas Attic were an English duo group of the 1990s and early 2000s. The two members were sisters Shelly McErlaine and Karen Poole, born in Barking and Chadwell Heath respectively and their father is Brian Poole of 1960s group Brian Poole and the Tremeloes. The Alisha referred to in the name is a fictional character created by Shelly and Karen. Attic is a reference to the attic studio belonging to a friend, Terry Martin. They were nominated for a 1997 Brit Award for Best Newcomer, losing out to Kula Shaker. A solo album entitled Hard time for The Dreamer was released by Shelly in 2005, She also wrote, a cover version of Suedes Still Life for the 1996 charity album by ChildLine.
Alisha's Attic were an English pop duo of the 1990s and early 2000s. The two members were sisters Shelly McErlaine (née Poole) and Karen Poole, born in Barking and Chadwell Heath respectively Alisha's Attic. This was followed in November 1996 by their entirely self-written debut album Alisha Rules the World. The platinum selling album was produced by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics and spawned four top 15 UK hits and substantial success in Europe and Japan. They were nominated for a 1997 Brit Award for Best Newcomer, and also nominated that year for an Ivor Novello Award for the best lyrical and melodic composition.
After dropping Alisha's Attic, Universal, parent company of Mercury Records, released a greatest hits collection on their budget label "Spectrum".
