After the much publicized addition of bassist Robin Spurs to the Choir's lineup and her highly unpublicized departure, the Choir released this recording, their strongest effort and the last release of their so-called "atmospheric" period. They are at their most experimental here, with rich textures and lots of noise.
Circle Slide was Spurs's last appearance on an album by the Choir. She joined Rachel Rachel on that group's second album. Circle Slide marks the first time lyricist Steve Hindalong alludes to or quotes from his previous work. The title track refers to "children of time," the title of a song from Chase the Kangaroo, while "Blue Skies" alludes to both "Happy Fool" and "Robin Had a Dream" from Wide-Eyed Wonder. Hindalong has continued this practice on almost every subsequent release by the Choir.

Bloodshot is the 15th studio album by Christian alternative rock band The Choir, released on June 1, 2018. This album was funded by the band's PledgeMusic campaign launched in January 2017, which also generated a remastered and reissued release of Wide-Eyed Wonder. This was the first Choir album in 32 years to be produced by someone outside of the band, and their first studio release since 2005 that did not feature any contributions from guitarist Marc Byrd.
