After the break-up, Pernice formed the Pernice Brothers. The band released their first album Overcome by Happiness in 1998 for Sub Pop. The band released The World Won't End in 2001, under Pernice's own label, Ashmont Records and Yours, Mine & Ours in 2003. After a 2004 tour, the band released their first live album in early 2005, Nobody's Watching/Nobody's Listening, and, in June of the same year, released their fourth studio album, Discover a Lovelier You. The band released Live a Little, their fifth studio album, in October 2006

On this, their sixth album, the Pernice Brothers continue to deliver. Longtime fans will be particularly jazzed about the resurrection of the Scud Mountain Boys’ classic, painful Grudge Fuck, while new stunners like Zero Refills have a soulful elegance that recalls the more sublime moments of Hall & Oates. Orchestral, lush and beautifully performed, it’s a great-sounding record.

Live a Little, the band's fifth studio album, returns to that heavily orchestrated, emotionally claustrophobic sound typified by the Pernice Brothers' first two releases, Overcome by Happiness (1998) and The World Won't End (2001).

Is Live A Little the best album by Pernice Brothers? BestEverAlbums. com brings together thousands of 'greatest ever album' charts and calculates an overall ranking. A perfect blend of melody, guitar sound, melancholy and poetry make this Pernice's best album. Comparing it with the others, I'm a little surprised that I end up preferring it to "Yours, Mine and Ours," which I've always thought of as a masterpiece. In the long run, this one ages better and feels more personal and idiosyncratic, more of a unique individual statement.
