The Orchestre Lamoureux (pronounced ) officially known as the Société des Nouveaux-Concerts and also known as the Concerts Lamoureux) is an orchestral concert society which once gave weekly concerts by its own orchestra, founded in Paris by Charles Lamoureux in 1881.

L'Orchestre de Louis XV. Le Concert des Nations. But I generally gravitate towards the orchestral suites from operas and ballets. The two suites here I believe are representative of others in Rameau's output and are worth exploring. Ironically (maybe), while the operas from which these suites are extracted aren't among Rameau's important ones, the orchestral music itself is some of the most colorful and entertaining that Rameau produced. The slow music is elegant and dignified, as usual with with this master, but the more boistrous stuff is absolutely brilliantly martial, with flashing trumpets, thundering timpani. Each Tambourin is a witty gem-in all, this is Baroque orchestral music at its best. But then again, the performances are perfect or as close as mortals can get to that mark.

Orchestre national de l'ORTF, Louis de Froment. Leonid Kogan plays Beethoven's Violin Concerto Orchestre national de l'ORTF, Louis de Froment. Gone too early, the Russian prince of the violin recorded in Paris a memorable performance of a Beethoven concerto. As a child, young Leonid could not go to sleep without his father Boris, a professional photographer and amateur violinist, coming to play for him. Fascinated by the sound of the instrument, he also wants to play and his father teaches him the rudiments. In 1966, Leonid Kogan is in Paris and interprets Beethoven's Concerto for violin and orchestra in D Major with the National Orchestra of the ORTF conducted by Louis de Froment: first of all it is the purity of his sound that appeals, then the extreme elegance of his playing and his contained sensibility.
