Zappa, Mothers ‎– ROXY - The Movie. referencing Roxy - The Movie, Blu-ray, Multichannel, ERBRD5257. Brilliant show this, absolutely essential. A couple of minus points thought, the PCM . is great but the Dolby Digital . is lossy, so exactly the same sort of audio on a DVD and NOT a Blu-Ray. Again overseas treated very poorly in this regard. I'd recommend importing the US version and boycotting the Euro version. Reply Notify me Helpful.

Roxy the Soundtrack is the CD companion released in the Roxy The Movie, DVD/CD and Blu-ray/CD sets. The CD soundtrack is not sold separately. The film used to produce the movie was shot in 1973 using four cameras at three live shows performed on December 8, 9 and 10. What no one knew at the time the film was shot is a malfunction led to the audio and video being out of synch

Frank Zappa's concerts at the Roxy Theatre in Holywood in December 1973 are legendary. Frank and the Mothers played three nights on December 8th, 9th & 10th and these shows formed the basis of the Roxy & Elsewhere album that was released in 1974. However the performances were also filmed in 16mm and this footage has been sitting in the Zappa vault ever since. It captures Frank and the Mothers at the height of their powers and includes material that is unique to these performances. This is a highly anticipated release for Zappa fans who have waited many years.

The Roxy Performances reveal that the Roxy & Elsewhere album was nearly as much a studio creation as a live album. For example, the song suite that comprises side two of the Roxy & Elsewhere album starts with the late show on 12/9 with the "Village of the Sun" intro, uses the 12/10 late show for "Echidna's Arf" and "Don't You Ever Wash That Thing", then it's back to 12/9 for the ending drum battle and outro vamp (which. Here we get everything that was played, exactly as it was played, in December 1973. The Roxy Performances nicely complement the original album and shine a spotlight on one of the most talented rock bands ever. Like Halloween 77, it's unlikely FZ would have released this set in its entirety, but it's another home run for the ZFT. Track Listing - Disc 1.

Brilliant show this, absolutely essential. A couple of minus points thought, the PCM 2.0 is great but the Dolby Digital 5.1 is lossy, so exactly the same sort of audio on a DVD and NOT a Blu-Ray. Biggest minus point is the CD soundtrack from the US release is NOT included with this UK/European edition. Again overseas treated very poorly in this regard. I'd recommend importing the US version and boycotting the Euro version
