quinoxe (English: Equinox) is the fourth studio album by French electronic musician and composer Jean-Michel Jarre, released in December 1978 on the Disques Dreyfus record label, with license to Polydor. Jarre had developed his sound, employing more dynamic and rhythmic elements, particularly a greater use of sequencing on basslines. Much of this was achieved using custom equipment developed by his collaborator Michel Geiss.

Like its predecessor, Equinoxe is widely regarded as a classic within electronic music, which to date has sold around ten million copies. Stylistically Jarre carries on the underlying concept of Oxygene, creating a dreamlike musical universe built around melodic passages and futuristic sound experiments.

Pioneering electronic music producer Jean-Michel Jarre has released Equinoxe Infinity, a new album of music that continues themes he explored 40 years ago on his classic album Equinoxe. The new album is Equinoxe on steroids, according to Jarre. I asked myself too what might happen to them in the 40 years to come. So, I started developing ideas for the artwork of the new album even before starting the recording sessions.

Jean-Michel Jarre is regarded as one of the pioneers in the electronic music genre, along with artists and bands such as Vangelis, Kraftwerk, Isao Tomita or Tangerine Dream. He is well-known for staging spectacular outdoor concerts of his music, which feature laser displays and fireworks, and three of which appeared in the Guinness Book of Records for their large audiences, often of several million. I have this on Vinyl so I have no idea when a track changes so I am going to write in full paragraphs.

Jean-Michel Jarre has announced that he’ll release a new album later this year. It’s titled Equinoxe Infinity and is the sequel to Jarre’s 1978 album Equinoxe. It’s set to arrive on November 16 – almost 40 years to the day since the original album launched. The cover was designed by Filip Hodas, which puts a fresh spin on the original cover artwork.

Equinoxe Infinity is the sequel to Jean Michel Jarre's fourth album, Equinoxe, and comes nearly 40 years to the day the original was released. Using Equinoxe's artwork for inspiration, Equinoxe Infinity sees Jarre deliver a collection of modern electronica with references to his original work.
